Movie Review: 99 Homes

Movie Review by The Yard

99 Homes is a crime fiction film released in 2014, starring Mike Shannon.

Mike Shannon plays Richard Carver, who runs a realty company doing some shady business.

Andrew Garfield plays Dennis Nash who was evicted from his home along with his family. Carver played by Shannon, benefited from the foreclosure and was at the eviction when Nash and his family was being forcibly removed.

In order to save his family and home Nash goes to work for Carver. First, he is doing handyman repairs on properties. But then, he starts doing more and more of the dirty work, until he is Carver’s right hand man.

The film was written and directed by Ramin Bahrani

The film’s script came out of the reality of the 2008 housing crisis.

It was a very good film that deals with foreclosures and evictions. It shows that some of the worst criminals sit in offices and gilded towers; using the system to get rich off others.

Mike Shannon does a fantastic job. But, honestly Mike Shannon does a great job in everything.

His character puts forth some philosophy that is true and hard to accept. Emotions will kill you.

The film shows that there are decisions that must be made to survive, and it’s all ugly.
